The countdown continues! Reason #6 to come to the New England Summer Classic Car Show Sunday, July 14th: Aa special talk on CONCEPT CARS at 12:30pm at the History Center, 97 Main Street.
What is a concept car? Concept cars, in their purest form, are automotive fantasies, signifiers of a future that is always coming, but never arrives. They have been a mainstay of auto shows and events for nearly 100 years, at least since the swoopy one-off Auburn Cabin Speedster was revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show in the winter of 1929.

The first photo is of the 1954 Lincoln Futura, which, in a second life, became the Batmobile in the 1966 TV Series.
The top image in the second photo is the 1964 GM Runabout, which featured a removable shopping cart built into the trunk.
The lower image is the 1989 Plymouth Voyager III, essentially two cars in one.
