"Mom, are we there yet?" I ask from the backseat. I just couldn't wait to visit Beyond King Tut: The Immersive Experience in Boston. Ancient Egypt has always been fascinating to me. Before our excursion to the city, I watched King Tut's Treasure on Disney +. It set the stage and got my mind thinking about Ancient Egypt.

- Tutankhamun was King Tut's real name.
- King Tut became king at 9 years old which made him known as "the boy king".
- King Tut married his sister. It was common for this to happen in royal marriages.
- King Tut's tomb was filled with tons of artifacts and objects that were said to be necessary for his journey into the afterlife.
- Howard Carter was an English archaeologist who discovered the entrance to Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922.
- The artifacts that were found were photographed and sent to museums for thousands of people to see.

I invited my friends Owen and Marshall to join us for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. When we walked into the exhibit, we were treated as VIP guests which gave us the opportunity to participate in a virtual reality experience of going "into" King Tut's tomb. I was mesmerized by the lighting of the exhibits. The black and gold everywhere gave the vibe that royalty was in the house. We took our time going through the exhibit, making sure we didn't miss anything!

- I had fun playing Senet. Egyptians were passionate about board games. There were four or five board games found in King Tut's tomb.
- Seeing all of the things that were packed in King Tut's tomb - because he would need those in his afterlife.
- It was fascinating to learn about how all of King Tut's organs were removed and put in jars.
- The movies were cool because they surrounded you in each room. It made you feel like you were part of the movie.
- The virtual reality experience of getting "inside" King Tut's tomb was amazing! I couldn't believe how disorganized all of the items were.
- The room with the sarcophagus was beautiful!
| Things to know when you visit: |
- Plan for 1-2 hours to go through the exhibit and watch the movie.
- There is plenty of parking on the site. It costs $30 (cash only) to park.
- There were cool places to take pictures with all different lighting. My favorite was inside the oversized National Geographic frame.
- Be sure to use the restrooms before you enter the exhibit. It is very hard to access the restrooms when you are in the middle of the maze-like exhibits.
- If you are like me and love gift shops, you will LOVE the one at the end of the exhibit. Be sure to bring your wallet.
