Reviviendo Playground is part of the Campagnone Common in North Lawrence. This park is one of our favorites to visit in the summer especially, because of the many festivals that are hosted in the Common. There is no parking lot but we’ve never had a problem finding street parking.
The playground is set back from the road and is surrounded by a black metal fence with two entrances. They are close together and facing away from the road, so I’ve never had a problem with any kids running free. There are 4 trashcans around the entrances, and 15 benches within the fence. When we visited, a crew of guys was working around the park, cleaning up trash and doing some landscaping. The Common is one of the better maintained parks in Lawrence and is right across from City Hall.
Outside the fenced in area are more benches, paved paths, spectator seating, several historic war monuments, a fountain, and more. Next to the playground is an area with metal tables and chairs, and most evenings in the summer they will be completely full of people playing dominoes.
The playground has 6 swings, 2 of them bucket swings, which is always a welcome sight. Along the outskirts of the play structures are painted hopscotch games, paths, shapes, etc. The ground under the play structures is soft rubber gravel.
There are several play structures scattered throughout the space. The main focus of these is climbing, although there are two slides, one big and one small. There is also a tube in the small playground, which is a favorite of my 2 year old. We’ve found the climbing sections work well for all 3 of my bigger kids. Rope netting climbers, metal curved pieces, and multiple other pieces are perfect for practicing balancing and climbing.
In two separate areas of the park you’ll see rocks set in the ground. My kids love to hop from on to the other. A tower of square blocks sits in one corner and it always draws my 2 year old like a magnet.
In the summer, especially in the evenings, this playground can get quite full. If you don’t like crowds, your best bet is to go in the morning when it is usually very quiet. If you get tired of the park, there are multiple restaurants nearby, the Lawrence Public Library, the YMCA, etc. Several food trucks regularly park along the common as well so bring your wallet!
Lawrence hosts many events in the Campagnone Common so you may show up and find a festival going on! We love this playground at all times but especially during town events. If you haven’t visited this park, you definitely should.
