The playground at the Pines Recreation Area is fairly new. It first opened In November 2019 and it replaced an older playground structure that had been at the same location. We have a lot of fun at this playground and it is fully fenced in, which is always a nice feature.

At this playground, there are two structures, one for ages 2-5 and one for ages 5-12. Each structure has a couple of slides and different climbing opportunities.

There are 3 race car spring riders between the two structures, which my daughter loves to play on and they get her imagination going.

There are also two swing sets, one with two baby swings by the smaller structure and one with three big kids swings and one accessible swing by the larger structure. There is bark mulch under the play structures and then a cushioned rubber flooring for the paths around the playground.

We love this playground because there are lots of opportunities to climb with a couple of ropes structures and different metal climbers. The ‘spider web’ is a favorite for my daughter.

We also love that there’s lots of room to run around with a path all along the playground. Outside the fenced area, there are also some open field areas which my daughter loved running around in too.

There is a full bathroom facility right outside of the playground, which has been nicely maintained when we have used it. When we went to this playground on a nicer day over the winter, the bathrooms were locked, so I’m not sure if they are open year round or just seasonally.

When we were here, there wasn’t shade on the playground areas, but there was shade along one side of the fence. There are small trees along two sides of the playground which offer some shade, and then there is also a pavilion outside the gated playground that’s over the picnic table. There’s a trash can next to the picnic table and also a can for recyclables. The playground area was totally clean, which is always nice when exploring with little ones.

The picnic table is the only seating that’s available at this playground. The picnic table is outside of the playground area, so inside the playground area you can either stand or sit on the ground.

The playground is part of the recreation area where there is a basketball court and a couple of baseball fields. The baseball fields don’t appear to be open for public use as there are signs stating you need a permit for use. This is also where the town’s dog park is located, but it is set back from the playground area so you wouldn’t see it unless you went looking for it. The Recreation Area has lots of parking and there are speed bumps as you drive down and throughout the parking lot area, which is great for safety.

This playground is right next to the Langley Adams Library, so when the library is open you can make a fun day of planning a trip to the library along with going to the playground.
