Toddler Language Enrichment Group:

I’m very excited to announce the opportunity, through North Shore Children’s Therapies, to join me at the Children’s Piazza-Peabody next Thursday (July 28th) for a FREE language enrichment group!

It’ll be a RED WHITE & BLUE themed morning that’ll be sure to get your kiddo excited for the 4th of July! This FREE language enrichment group is a fun, play-based session for children between the ages of 2-4 years with and without speech and language delays. It will include activities that enhance children’s communication, language, learning, motor, social emotional skills, and overall development.  Activities will include singing, musical instruments, art, sensory play, and listening to stories.

Who:  Children and caregivers ages 2-4

Where:  Children’s Piazza Peabody, 83 Pine Street Peabody MA

When:  June 28th, 10:30-11:15

Sounds of the 4th:

  • SNAP - CRACKLE - BOOM - POP - FIZZ - WHISTLE - WOO -  OOO - AHH - YAY -

Before children can produce true words, they begin making environmental sounds (crashing noises, raspberries, animal noises, vehicle noises).  Exposure to environmental sounds builds children’s understanding of language by helping them to form associations between objects and sounds.  Producing environmental sounds is easier for young children than forming true words, and develops their expressive language by giving them practice combining speech sounds and syllables.  You can expose your child to many environmental sounds through play, music, experiences, and books.  The upcoming 4th of July holiday is a great time to pull out instruments and put on a sound parade with your child; and, to narrate and elaborate on the sounds you’ll hear at parades, festivals, fireworks!  Have Fun!
