Organizing Kids Puzzles

Spring Clean

By Katrina Mancini April 19, 2018

I am trying to tackle the spring cleaning toy list and one of the areas that drives me nut is the puzzle shelf. We have so many boxes piled on top each-other taking up some good shelf space. After some trial and error I found a solution that is efficient and looks nice.

This is what my shelf looked like before:

First I tried to consolidate and put them in zip lock bags. This worked but I didn't really like how it looked plus they started to break from all of the use.

Then I found a new solution and it is working great. I thought I would share so you can tackle your puzzle mayhem too.

What you will need:

1. Order these zipper pencil bags that have a clear front. ( I found mine on Amazon)

2. Cut out the picture of the finished puzzle from the box and place in front of the bag then place all pieces in the bag.

3. Store the bags in a cute basket on the shelf.

4. If the puzzle has a wooden base you can stack them on a separate shelf in a basket to keep things looking less cluttered or you can stack them and put the loose pieces in a bag. We have more boxed puzzles so the zipper bags worked best for us. The bags are easy for the kids to access, they can see what is in the bag, and they are easy to clean up!
