MK: What can you tell us about Beautycounter?

DC: If you are conscientious about what you put on your skin, you need to take a look at this company. Our head-to-toe skincare line has something for everyone - adults, kids, and babies. I believe it is important to start with a clean palette. Gregg Renfrew, the CEO and founder of this company is fighting the good fight in Washington in order to have these laws changed and is being recognized for her amazing efforts. We need more voices to create change for future generations. Our mission is to get safe products into the hands of everyone. We deserve better, and Beautycounter is doing something about it!

MK: Why did you decide to get involved with Beautycounter?

DC: Eight months ago I was introduced to Beautycounter through a casual conversation with a dear friend. I was intrigued and found myself spending hours researching the company...I was hooked! The company's mission of getting safe products into the hands of everyone resonated with me. I am an educator by trade and became an educator for this business because I truly believe in the product and want to share all I know with my family and friends.

MK: What advice do you have for moms who feel confused and overwhelmed by a number of products and information out there in the marketplace?

DC: I thought we lived in a country that regulates everything. But did you know that when it comes to the personal care industry, that's simply not the case. Companies are allowed to use toxins- ingredients that have been linked to cancer, reproductive issues, hormone disruption - without telling us. My best advice for those who feel confused and overwhelmed by a number of products and information out in the marketplace would be to first and foremost…educate yourself. I always say, “Knowledge is your best asset. “At Beauty counter, we've committed to a health and safety standard that goes well beyond what is legally required in the United States. The Never List™ is made up of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals that we never use as ingredients in our products. This includes the over 1,400 chemicals banned or restricted in personal care products by the European Union, plus additional chemicals screened by Beautycounter and found to be of concern.

This is important to not only me but to my family and friends. It is my job to help educate others on the importance of making safer choices for their family and friends as well. Education and safety are at the core of our brand. It’s why Beautycounter has partnered with trusted non-profits focusing on environmental health since the beginning. Environmental Working Group (EWG) uses the power of research and information to protect public health and the environment. The Breast Cancer Fund (BCF) works to prevent breast cancer by eliminating our exposure to toxic chemicals and radiation linked to the disease. Healthy Child Healthy World empowers parents and caregivers to protect children from harmful chemicals.

MK: What are some of the must-have products for mom and baby?

DC: My favorite must-have products would have to be the face collections and baby products. We offer two collections, the nourishing skin care
routine and the Countertime line to Rejuvenate skin and fight the signs of aging. Made with gentle formulas for baby’s delicate skin, the Ultimate Baby Collection is a must-own for every mom. The collection includes Calming Diaper Rash Cream, Gentle All-Over Wash, Daily Protective Balm, and Soothing Oil. Plus, it includes a stylish diaper bag to keep all your essentials together on the go.
