This weeks theme: Sensory Exploration

Edible Paints: Plain yogurt of any kind, dairy or non dairy add drop of food coloring or no sugar added kool-aid for scent and color!

Cornstarch Goo: In a flat baking pan or bin pour 1 cup corn starch, add water until you reach preferred consistency. Add some small animals or little people figures for imaginative play! * I suggest putting down a plastic table cloth for the mess.

Potato Flakes: Using a box of instant mashed potato mix, pour into a tub or large bowl for children to feel, touch and explore! To extend the activity add water and food coloring, children will enjoy the variety of textures!

Rice Play: Fill a large plastic bin with 5-6 cups of uncooked white rice- Or you can color the rice ahead of time with food coloring. To color the rice, pour rice in a ziplock add food coloring shake up and then pour in a container to dry out.  Children will love reaching in the bin to play with the rice, and feeling it run through their fingers. Add small shovels and small containers for children to dump and fill. *Don’t be surprised if your toddler decides to sit in the bin for a full sensory experience!

Pull Box: Using a small box poke holes all around it and tie strings, ribbons, fuzzy pipe cleaners, lace fabric strips, felt strips etc. Tie a knot on one end of the item so it stays attached to the box. Children can touch and feel all the fabric textures and pull the items in and out/through the holes!
